About Kate Weisgerber

I have four years of experience doing student work at Purdue University with both User Experience (UX) Design and General Communications as well as having a minor in Anthropology. I have experience with design and prototyping tools including Figma and Adobe products such as Photoshop and Illustrator.  I enjoy the challenge of making complex tools, sites, and software intuitive, enjoyable, and easy to use for users.

My specializations include user research, UI design, and service design with skills in ideation, teamwork, creativity, and interpersonal skills. My prior experience with the fields of communication and anthropology creates an excellent background for me to understand user behavior and approaches to using technology. I also love talking to and learning about the people who regularly interact with it.

In my free time, I enjoy drawing and other artistic hobbies, traveling, hiking, playing games, and doing volunteer work in my community. I also really love animals including my two dogs, cat, and seven chickens.

Design is something that should ultimately have a positive impact on the world through creativity, continuous learning, and having understanding of those it aims to help.

Designer Values

  • Adaptable - designs should consider differences between users and should be able to be updated or changed as necessary

  • Empathetic - understanding user emotions, perceptions, and experiences is key to learning about their needs

  • Curious - being interested in the context, users, and design possibilities will help find relevant information

  • Adventurous - creativity and risks need to be explored in order to discover new possibilities and inspire innovation
